Licensed Mental Health Counselor
Graduated in 2000 from the University of Tennessee with my masters degree in Mental Health Counseling. I have years of experience across a variety of treatment settings including; inpatient psychiatric, community mental health, community based agencies and private practice. I have served all age groups through individual therapy and play therapy.
I use evidence based interventions to create a safe therapeutic environment that is conducive to healing. An eclectic blend of Cognitive Behavior Therapy, Solution Focused, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Play Therapy are the treatments I rely on to help clients reach their goals. I also teach guided relaxation and breathing techniques and art therapy when needed. I believe that clients have the answers to their own problems and it being a process to get them to the surface, recognized and acted on. I also believe in the beauty of challenging and replacing irrational thoughts, beliefs and attitudes.
My specialty is in trauma therapy, anxiety and adjustment related concerns. I have worked with the courts in providing expert testimony and also in advocating for my clients. I have also taught at workshops and seminars in regards to sexual assault/abuse treatment and early detection. I have sat on the Board for Child Abuse Prevention. And I look forward to becoming more involved in Pinellas County on such issues.
