Registered Mental Health Counselor Intern
Are you feeling overwhelmed by your trauma?
Do you find it difficult to understand or connect with emotions that surface?
Are you afraid to face the hardships or darkness that lives within?
Do you feel lost when trying to cope with tough emotions if you did allow yourself to feel?
Does the thought of answering these questions and confronting emotions make you uncomfortable?
You are not alone. Remember, you are doing the best you can with the tools you have. I am proud of you for seeking help and willing to work on your healing journey. Choosing to recover from trauma is not easy but as a survivor you are already extremely resilient. I will be here as a guide to support you on this path. When you make the decision to feel your feelings and recover, you give yourself the opportunity to begin living the life you were meant to live. You give yourself the chance to discover who you truly are.
What is Art Therapy?
In session we will use art as a tool to help you communicate the feelings that are happening inside. You do not have to be good at art or have prior experience to participate in art therapy. All are welcome! It is a judgement free zone. I will not be teaching technique and I will never critique your artwork. Art therapy is about the process not the product and through creative expression one can obtain greater self-awareness.
It can often be difficult to articulate with words alone the pain you feel. Through art you will be provided with additional outlets to express yourself and tell your story. Art therapy offers a holistic approach that taps into the mind-body connection. My goal as an Art Therapist is to guide survivors of trauma through their darkness, rediscover their light, and empower them to reconstruct the divine being that they are.
